How NDIS Funding Can Be Spent
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to individuals with disabilities to help them achieve their goals and improve their quality of life. Here are some ways NDIS funding can be utilized:
1. Core Supports
Daily personal activities
Transport to enable participation in community, social, economic, and daily life activities
Consumables such as dietary needs, continence aids, and other daily living needs
Assistance with social and community participation
2. Capacity Building Supports
Improving daily living skills
Support coordination to help manage NDIS plans
Finding and keeping a job through employment-related supports
Training for family members and carers
3. Capital Supports
Purchase of assistive technology (e.g., wheelchairs, communication devices)
Home modifications to improve accessibility
Specialized equipment to enhance independence
4. Other Supports
Therapeutic supports, including physiotherapy and occupational therapy
Behaviour support services
Plan management services to assist with budgeting and payments
It is important for NDIS participants to work closely with their planners and support coordinators to ensure that their funding is used effectively to meet their individual needs and goals.
